Community Garden

Northside Community Garden in Lakeland, Florida will teach 40-50 youth to grow their own vegetables, fruits and grains. The youth will learn about soil drainage and PH testing of the land, compost and fertilizer, how to clear the land, use gardening tools, and irrigation.

The youth will build seating areas in the garden to encourage community involvement, build raise boxes to plant the fruits and vegetables inside the boxes with top soil dirt and fertilizer as well. They will learn how to harvest what's grown and package it for sale during farmers markets held at the location. Youth will get basic business functions awareness how to identify customers, setting prices, and money management. We will Team up with local farmers and FFA/ Future Farmers of America for there knowledge.

With this community garden project, we also encourage and welcoming all senior citizens volunteers to assist and participate in this project.
